WASHINGTON — Summer vacation should be fun - not a struggle. For thousands of kids it means a greater chance of going hungry. For families facing food insecurity, summer is a struggle without school meal programs.

Average family grocery costs can rise more than $300 a month when school is out. With inflation, that number could be higher. But your generosity will help. Your donation will help Food Lifeline get food to more than 400 food banks and programs across western Washington.

Volunteer in the Food Lifeline Hunger Solution Center. You can organize friends, co-workers or go on your own. KOMO News recently volunteered for a shift sorting and repacking food for our Day of Service.

Advocate on behalf of Food Lifeline. Learn more about their Root Out Hunger mission to raise awareness about the root causes of hunger.
